Nielsen recently released the Mobile Consumer Report 2013, in which it is evident that smartphones are preferred by 62% of Italian.

This data provides us with some good reason for the decrease in the declared bank branches throughout the country (ECB: in Italy dal 2009 the 2012 the number of branches was reduced by 1.641 units for a total of 32.528 - A common trend across the Eurozone and the EU).

In fact, A recent research carried out by CRIF and SDA Bocconi (How changing and evolving retail banking in Italy, critical success factors, channels and product innovation to meet the challenge of development) tells us that witnessing a real boom of on-line with an increase in the percentage of Italians to access banking services using the Internet more and more and phone banking (then operating in mobility with smartphones and tablets).

This is especially true for banks medium / large. It is expected that in 2017 the 49% customers will be "mobile".

With the advent of the Web and the diffusion of "mobile device" has increased as well the customers' decision-making autonomy, when it comes to the purchase of financial instruments.

Therefore, bank managers interviewed said they were convinced that financial institutions should prove capable of knowing how to adapt products and services in a form more and more personalized.

Important will be the restructuring of the retail banking model, although research shows the directed banks (in contrast to the statements made by bank managers) more on how to relate with customers rather than the revision of the offer range of innovative products.

In conclusion, what has been said in recent interviews that bank directors, saw the rise of financial transactions out of the branch, veering in declaring that in the next few years we want to completely eliminate the backoffice activities focusing all appearance consultancy.
