The last one Consob report on the investment choices of Italian families, presented in the conference of 22 November held in Rome at the Consob headquarters “The choices of Italian investors between consultancy and sustainability”, confirms a fact we have always known: investing is a male activity

The sample used to analyze knowledge, attitudes and financial choices of Italian investors, is constituted for the 78% by men. In fact, it is stated in the report:

With reference to the socio-demographic characteristics of the sample, described in the first Section, the interviewees have an average age of 51 years and for 78% they are male subjects.

The Survey collects data relating to a sample of 2.011 individui, representative of the population of Italian financial decision makers who declare they own one or more financial assets, defined as 'investors'.

In the family it is therefore the man who is "in charge" of the financial management of the family resources:

Women who make financial decisions make up a fifth of the sample (figure slightly up compared to last year 20% al 22% sample).

The Report therefore presents the data relating to investments. Individuals who only hold basic savings management tools are therefore excluded from the sample (bank and postal accounts, unrestricted bank and postal savings books, remunerated but not restricted deposit accounts, or just pension accumulation plans).

  • What are the socio-demographic characteristics and personality traits of Italian investors?
  • How high is the financial culture of financial decision makers?
  • What are the mainly used information sources?
