The chess queen (The Queen’s Gambit), you can read on wikipedia, is an American drama television miniseries created by Scott Frank and Allan Scott, distributed in streaming on 23 October 2020 su Netflix.
“The Serie, based on the novel of the same name by 1983 di Walter Tevis, explore the life of a chess prodigy child, orphan, named Beth Harmon, following its vicissitudes from the age of eight to twenty-two, while fighting alcohol and drug addiction in an attempt to become a great chess master. "
Perhaps it is thanks to the success of the aforementioned TV series if, since last April, ben 11 and a half million fans, subscribed to Chess.com (also on the Italian version).
And then eBay declares that, from the success of the TV series that is part of the Netflix catalog, there has been a surge in the number of researches relating to the game of chess 237%. But also of chessboard sales, increased for example in the USA, of 215% since the release of the series.
So it would seem that, also in this case, a successful TV series exerts an influence on lifestyle habits (how to enjoy your free time) and consumption (how to spend your money) of people.
And what about managing your savings, there are TV series and films that push Italians to make certain financial choices?
In most cases, film and television producers have reported financial scams (is. The big bet), greedy financiers unscrupulous on the stock markets (is. The Wizard of Lies which tells the deeds of the financier Madoff), fiction that makes you see the darker side of the financial markets (is. Billions set in New York in the world of high finance).
It will then also be for this reason that the Italians, round and round they find themselves having their savings or cash in their checking account (Bank of Italy declares further 1.600 billion €) or in the brick (the 73% of the Italians is homeowner).
Sin, because the means of communication par excellence, the cinema, could do a lot, for example to raise awareness of the possibility of transferring many daily risks to the insurance companies (Ania states that Italians are heavily underinsured).
But also to introduce the figure of the financial consultant (better if independent) to ensure that the Italians, historically good at saving can also learn to invest for the realization of their life projects, perhaps understanding the art of diversification.
We therefore hope that starting from the new year, the film and television industry, also given the crisis we are experiencing and will experience in the coming years, try to make productions that go in this direction.
