Presented last 20 May the survey on insurance literacy of Italians promoted by IVASS (Supervisory Body of Companies and Insurance Intermediaries) their "Knowledge and insurance behavior of Italians" by Prof.. Riccardo Viale and conducted by the Milan Bicocca and Doxa University.

L’IVASS commissioned this survey on insurance literacy, as the first photograph of Italians' knowledge and behavior of insurance, to better target its activities to promote consumer education.

Salient results:

More than 70% of the interviewees believes that the insurance culture is not adequate;

For the 50% of the interviewees, the lack of comprehension of insurance policies is one of the main causes of non-subscription of the same. While for the 67,5% instead cost is one of the main causes;

On a scale of 0 a 100 insurance knowledge is 30,4. Insurance knowledge is greater when there is more schooling.

The 60% of the interviewees believes that to fill the knowledge gap it must be the public institutions.
