By now everyone agrees on the sustained growth of GDP in our country for 2021. There are even imbalances in one +6%.

But how much of this growth will be due to the Senior Economy (Silver Economy)?

According to Senior Italy FederAnziani, la Senior economy (o silver economy) it will be the engine of the Italian recovery. This is stated in the paper "Longevity, socio-economic prospects " recently presented to the Parliamentary Intergroup.

So the president Roberto Messina:

"Seniors today live longer because they live better, for this we will have a +63,1% of Over65 in the next 20 years. They are long-lived but also active, so much so that beyond 7 millions of seniors they contribute with their own economic resources to the well-being of the family, of children and grandchildren, and the value of their support for their children's families each year, in direct form or purchases of necessary goods, products and services, and seems to 5,4 billion. The 39,9% of the total wealth owned by families is in the hands of the overs 65. But that is not all: the expense of the overs 65 in our country it is estimated at 200 billion, or one fifth of the entire amount of household consumption, figure that by 2030, according to Confindustria projections, should go up to 25% of the total and in the following twenty years to 30%. Add to this that in the last five years we have had a +38,4% di over 65 who went on vacation and the +112,3% of them traveling for work. Italian grandparents are the busiest in Europe looking after their grandchildren, while the parents work, during their commitments, in times of emergency, when children are sick, and 27,6 billions of euros per year is the value of caring for grandchildren, unpaid work that is part of a real underground economy, decisive for our country since it represents the pillar of welfare. All this and more must be considered when it comes to Senior Economy (Silver Economy), or economy of longevity, that set of assets, servizi, consumption, lifestyles that revolve around this increasingly dynamic universe than with his own 4.200 billions of gross domestic product e 78 millions of people employed in various sectors across Europe, it can represent the impetus for the rebirth of the European and Italian economy after the crisis»
